Designed and constructed around the theme of visible engineering, the University of Auckland's new engineering building B405 showcases exposed STELTECH® custom welded beams to students, faculty and visitors. Delivering custom, optimised solutions for large scale projects such as this is what we excel at, and this building is an excellent example of what can be achieved when the STELTECH® team are involved early in the process.
Collaborating with Grayson Engineering we designed and manufactured bespoke beam solutions which enabled clear open spaces, resulted in no yield losses or waste creation while maintaining a robust just in time (JIT) supply throughout their fabrication program.
Impressively, the beams featured have been entirely forged locally, all from within 80km of the university. Design, manufacture and fabrication having been completed in South Auckland, with the steel made in Glenbrook, from iron sands sourced from Waikato North Head. Not a bad engineering feat in itself.
