Every day, you probably use a product that has been manufactured or stored in a portal frame building made by STELTECH®. Portal frame buildings are everywhere, all over New Zealand.
A typical portal frame building has tapered columns and a tapered haunch section leading to parallel rafters. Using a column or central spine often results in a tapered apex section.
Probably the tallest building that STELTECH® has helped construct is the Recall building in Penrose, Auckland. It was built by Haydn and Rollett to be used for document storage as part of Recall’s nationwide service.
In 2010, we also provided portal frames for the new Countdown Supermarket in Manukau City, as part of their nationwide upgrade. Grayson Engineering pre-formed the fabrication and erection, a task made more challenging by the inclusion of an underground car park. This meant that no heavy lifting equipment could be placed inside the build.
Since 1987, Steltech has been New Zealand’s leading producer of three plate welded beams for a wide range of construction and industrial applications.
We can work with your engineer to provide preliminary designs, complete designs that include connectors and a producer statement or simply have a friendly chat to give you advice.
Our free specification, dimensional tolerance and design tables plus our proprietary design software, MemDes, are available to assist with your design process.
